God’s Wisdom, God’s Timing

Second Coming

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Ever wondered what’s taking The Lord a long time for His second coming?  If the world is falling apart and the people He loves are suffering, why doesn’t He just come now and save the earth?

What Peter is saying in this verse is that Christ is not slow in His fulfilling His promises but He, on the other hand, is being patient.  Everything The Lord Jesus does is out of love, never forget that.  Even right now, The Lord Jesus Christ is delaying His coming.  Why?  Is He enjoying seeing man suffer on earth?  Definitely not!  It was recorded in the resurrection of Lazarus that Jeses wept (John 11:35).  Jesus did not laugh, party, or celebrate when Lazarus died.  He wept.  Christ wept because He was once again reminded of man’s fall and Christ’s weeping is a proclamation that He never created man to suffer.  He hates suffering that’s why He came down to save us!

On Palm Sunday, Christ came as a servant on a donkey (Matthew 21:1-11).  In His second coming, Christ is coming on a white horse as The King of Kings and Lord of Lords! (Revelations 19:11-16)

Christ is coming soon and He may seem to be delaying but it’s not because He wants us to suffer more.  Christ is coming in His own time because the later He comes, to more opportunities man has of being saved.  Praise God that Christ has not yet come in the year 2000; or else, my grandfather who accepted Christ and went home to heaven in 2004 would not have been saved.  I’m sure all of you reading this would have a love one that you want saved but are not YET saved.  My friend, Jesus Christ is the best Saviour, He WILL save you and your love ones.  All in God’s wisdom and all in His time.
