Why do we need Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour?

Is it so hard to enter the Kingdom of God that only a chosen few will make it there while the rest of the world burn in hell? Is it that God’s standards are so high and so holy that no man can fulfill them? Thank God that He left us His Word that are preserved in The Bible! Now we can see for ourselves what our Creator has in store for us.

We are saved through Jesus Christ (John 10:9)

The Bible clearly spells it out: Christ is the Saviour of the world. Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our Faith (Hebrews 12:2) and Christ is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 8:1-4). We are set free from sin and condemnation through the work of Jesus Christ and not by our own works and stature. If Christ has not saved us from the cross, then nothing in all creation and beyond creation can, and nothing else will.

Christ loves us and He will find every excuse to save us. He is the Good Shepherd and He won’t allow not one sheep to be taken away by the devil (John 10:11-18). This was shown on Luke 23:42-43. When the thief beside Jesus said: “Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” Even in His last dying breath, Jesus is still saving souls and all the thief had to do was call Jesus, “LORD”.

The Righteousness of Abraham

In Genesis 15:6 it mentions that “Abram believed the LORD and it was accounted for him as righteousness.” Abram, who later became Abraham, was made righteous (sinless in the eyes of God) simply because God told Him about The Kingdom and Abraham believed God.

Do take note that Genesis 15:6 occurred before Abraham had to sacrifice Isaac, so the act of offering his son to God was not the act that earned him his righteousness to the LORD. Abraham got his righteousness way before the Isaac incident; Abraham was made righteous by simply believing God. It is very encouraging to see that people keep getting saved simply by believing God!

The Roman Jailer

In Acts of the Apostles chapter 16, we find here the apostles Paul and Silas freed from prison supernaturally by an earthquake that shook the cell doors open. On verse 29-30: The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Paul and Silas replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.  The Bible emphasizes in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

In order to be saved, we have to believe and confess (declare) that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. People whose tongues say that believers in Christ are not yet saved are only insulting the death of Jesus on the cross. They are simply saying that Christ’s shed blood is not enough to redeem us from our sins. We as Christians know Who Jesus Christ is, and we surely know that one drop of His blood cleanses us from our sins, forever.

How do I know that I am saved? I know I am saved because The Word of God says that Christ has laid down His life for us and redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). Out of love, Jesus came down to earth to save us from sin. On the cross suspended between heaven and earth, Jesus Christ cried “It is finished!” (John 19:28-30) because His purpose here on earth has been fulfilled! We are forever saved because of Jesus Christ! No human argument, no spiritual experience, no demonic possession, no angelic vision can take that away from us (Romans 8:5).

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came down from heaven to die for our sins?
