Wisdom and Foolishness

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. –James 1:5

The LORD loves it when you ask Him for wisdom (1 Kings 3:10).  In fact, whole books of the Bible are dedicated for wisdom alone.  It is simply because God loves us and He wants us to obtain wisdom because wisdom is good for us.  Actually, it is highly beneficial for us.  It leads to a peaceful, happier life and the greatest benefit of all is that it leads to Salvation.  Wisdom leads us to Jesus Christ.

Foolishness turns us away from The Lord:

The fool says in his heart,

“There is no God.” –Psalm 14:1

As opposed to the foolish people, wisdom will lead us to seek and honor Jesus Christ.  This is precisely why the Magi from the East who visited Jesus were proclaimed to be ‘WISE’; because when they found Jesus, “they bowed down and worshipped Him” (Matthew 2:11) and if you read on Matthew 2, you will see that these Magi were a lot wiser than we think because after worshipping The Lord, “they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”  Wow, these Magi had the greatest honor and privilege to be the first people in the planet to worship and honor The Lord Jesus Christ!  Now, these are truly truly WISE AND BLESSED MEN. Whatever wisdom it is that made them seek and worship The Saviour – I want it!!

The verse today clearly states that if we lack wisdom (and want more) all we have to do is ask God.  King Solomon never invested in philosophy books and neither did he spend time meditating with plants and animals.  He also didn’t rely on his life experiences and the grayness of his hair since he himself admitted that he is “only a little child and do not know how to carry out his duties” (1 Kings 3:10).  All Solomon had to do was ask God, for it is God who gives wisdom.

Ask God for wisdom and it shall be given to you!  Be like all the wise men/women in the Bible and seek Jesus in the Scriptures and continue worshipping Him more and more!
