Christ is Our Wisdom

James 3:13 “[Two Kinds of Wisdom] Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”

We are righteous through the blood of Jesus Christ and through His blood alone; nothing else.  Our good works are not holy enough for God’s standards and at best it is accounted for nothing in heaven.  In this verse, James is saying that good works spring forth from wisdom and understanding.  You see, we do not live a ‘good life’ of ‘good deeds’ to obtain our righteousness or holiness (Christ has already ensured that for us); instead, we live a ‘good life’ of ‘good deeds’ because the Spirit of Wisdom operates inside us.  A wise man will ‘live good’ because doing good or following Christ’s commandment of loving others will honor God and thus, benefit us spiritually and practically.
True wisdom is trusting nothing and no one but Jesus Christ; The One who laid down His life for you.

Who is the wise man then?  Is he the one suing his fellow Christians out of anger? Is he the one who cheats, steals and lies?  No!  All of these are signs of a lack of trust on The Lord’s goodness and it is definitely a sign of ignorance and not of wisdom!  The fool trusts on their arm of flesh (Jeremiah 17:5), that’s why they’re always in fear and in doubt.  Wise people end up loving others, because the real wise people fear nothing for they have placed their trust in Jesus Christ!

Blessed is the man who trusts in The Lord! (Jeremiah 17:7, Psalm 84:12, Psalm 40:4, Psalm 34:8)
