Divisions in the Church

1 Corinthians 1:10 “[Divisions in the Church] I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

Since the early days of Christianity, divisions among the people Christ have been one big headache.  People comparing churches, doctrines and even comparing pastors have been a problem dating back to Paul’s ministry.  I love Paul’s response to these people who brag about belonging to his church, moving on to verse 13, Paul wrote: “Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not!” (1 Cor 1:13) Even Jesus Christ, knowing that these divisions in His church will happen spoke about it.  Let’s see what The LORD Himself has to say at Luke 9:49-50.  In here, the apostles were alerting Jesus about ‘others’ baptizing and healing people in the name of Jesus Christ.  The Lord’s command was clear: “Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.” (Luke 9:50)

So whoever you are, whichever church you come from, if you worship the name of Jesus Christ, then you are my brother and you are my sister. God Bless you!
