Only The Cross of Jesus Can Save Us

3

Hebrews 12:1 “[God Disciplines His Sons] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

Sin distracts us; it slows us down, and it finally wastes our time.  Although as children of the Most High God covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, the curse of sin can no longer touch us, but sin can still amplify the devil’s lies and entangle us by making us doubt God’s love for us.  As what the apostle Paul said, everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial (1 Corinthians 10:23).

Sin is designed to keep us from reigning just as eating the forbidden fruit got Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden.  Today, sin is harmful because it keeps us from reaching our goal that was planned for us by Christ, Jesus.  So let us all live in victory and run with perseverance the race that has already been paid for by Jesus Christ!

So how do we ‘persevere’ in this so-called race?  We cannot do this successfully without the revelation of what Jesus Christ has done for us.  Before we can persevere in doing God’s work, we have to fall in love with God first and before we can fall in love with God, we need to know how much He first loves us.  This is only possible by beholding Jesus on the cross.

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

– Jesus Christ (John 15:13)

Behold the cross and constantly grow in the revelation of The Lord Jesus Christ’s love for you.  This revelation will empower you to love Him back (1 John 4:19) – and sin no more.
