We are God’s Perfect Workmanship

lightstock_57444_xsmall_natalieEphesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

We have to remind ourselves everyday on how beautiful and how righteous we are in the eyes of our Maker and Redeemer.  We belong to Jesus Christ; we are in Him as He is in all of us.  This is made possible because we are washed by His blood and are now new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).  We are qualified and empowered by His grace to take part in the works of His Kingdom.

Apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5).  For us to be able to do the ‘good works’, we should first be established in the finished work of Christ.  People who refuse to believe that they are cleansed by the perfect work of Jesus Christ will find it impossible to do His work because the guilt they carry from the remembrance of their sins disqualifies them from drawing from Him.  However, those who believe that they are forgiven through the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ will be able to do much of the good works.  Check out the story of Zacchaeus on Luke 19.

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

-Luke 19:8

Although an outward sinner, Zacchaeus’ revelation of how Jesus Christ sees him empowered him to do the good works for the Kingdom of God.

Like Zacchaeus, let us run to Jesus, believe in His finished work and become God’s perfect workmanship.  Let us exercise our rights as children of God and draw from Jesus Christ.  Only then will all the good works spring out from us and flow like rivers of living waters.
