The family is the smallest unit of a group in God’s Kingdom. At the heart of the family is The King of kings, The Lord Jesus Christ, teaching and guiding the leaders of this unit. It all started with the marriage of the 2 offices, the offices of the husband and of the wife. Man and woman leave their families and become this singular family unit, bonding their spirits in a covenant with no one less than The Lord Jesus Himself.
This family unit, this marriage, directs and manages the movements and operations of the family. For some it is only the two of them, for the others, it consists of their offspring, for some, their family units extend to their very own parents and even to their siblings or even cousins and aunts and uncles. It is part of God’s great plan that these groups be ruled by the father and the mother, the husband and the wife, as it foreshadows the magnificent (yet incomprehensible) relationship between The Church and The Lord Jesus Himself.
The marital unit is so precious that the fate of family systems depend on the two offices working together in love and in strength. Should they fail to do so, tremendous consequences befall their members. Families, together with their smaller components: children and individuals alike, have suffered from the failure of marriages to work out.
Criminal behaviours, depression, addictions, anxiety, and other coping mechanisms emerge as a result of the failure of family systems to fulfill each one’s emotional needs. As a clinician, I have witnessed these cries for help from the members and especially from husband and wife: it is the cry for parental love and the family’s warmth. It is not uncommon to encounter these incidences, even on a daily basis. The world has simply found a way to attack and shake these God ordained structures and systems.
Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter. If the enemy wants the people of God destroyed, all it has to do is attack the leaders of the family unit and watch its children suffer. All I am saying is that if the enemy wants to hurt God’s Kingdom, it is easiest to destroy the family unit; to destroy the family unit, one only needs to break the earthly bonds between husband and wife.
It is no accident why you are reading this page, especially up to this point. You are experiencing conflicts in your relationship with the person you trusted the most. These conflicts are leading to anxiety, leading to doubt, and it is making you think that ‘things will not work out between us.’ I would beg you to reconsider.
