Boldness in Christ

What if she doesn’t like me? Asks a young man before approaching his crush.
What if the market forces change? Asks a middle aged auntie thinking of a career change.
What if I make the wrong decision? Asks this procrastinating manager.

These are just some of the questions that I face in Christian Counselling. Questions of doubt, of insecurities, and most of all, of fear.  The main question we all worry about is: what if I fail?

The world wants you to live in fear because it wants you to base your life decisions in this state of defeat. This way the world wins against the people of God; that instead of rising up to the taunts and the lies of life, we turn back around and hide in our safe zones. We end up listening to the world more than the promises of God.  Fear never moved anyone forward, it prevents people from moving forward in life. Why do you think terrorism is being used today? It is all about using fear as a weapon.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16

Only the bold in Christ wins. Fear is never easy to overcome, not unless you have a solid spiritual basis to fuel your courage. Here we look back to Bible wisdom to learn how the great ones conquered their fears.

Imagine what would have happened if David chickened out from Goliath?
Or if Moses kowtowed to Pharaoh?
Or if Peter feared the Pharisees?

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Romans 8:37

All of the great patriarchs found courage in The Lord.
All the great ones found strength and courage through God’s reassuring love.

Our boldness come from His love.
Are your life decisions based on fear?
Or are they made from the boldness of faith?

I leave it to you if you prefer to listen to the taunts of the world or to the words of Jesus Christ.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
1 Timothy 1:7

Successful people have overcome their fears through luck and ignorance.
Great men and women conquered their fears, because of Jesus Christ.
