John 6:29 “Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
The Bible has several verses about obeying ‘God’s commandment’ and most people think that God’s commandment refers to the 10 commandments. The Old Testament would show that no man can keep the 10 commandments; everyone has fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). How then can God expect us to keep all his laws? The answer: God doesn’t.
God knows that no man can keep His standard of the 10 commandments; His laws are too Holy for us to keep and we are simply too fallen to keep any of it. This is why we need a Saviour. No man can save themselves and this is the reason why God has to send His Son down to die for us. We human beings, no matter how proud our tongues are, cannot do anything on our own. We cannot even keep one simple commandment: Do not eat from one particular tree!
Jesus Christ came down from heaven and he redeemed man from our cursed state by dying on the cross and shedding His blood. For the price of sin is death and Jesus Christ has fully paid for all our debts! So, just like in John 6, when you ask the Lord: “What must we do to do the works God requires?” (John 6:30) The answer of The Lord Jesus Christ would still be the same: “Believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:31)
It was never about you; before eternity was created, it has always been about Jesus!
The heavens declare the glory of God (Psalm 19:1)
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, The Holy Son of God, who came down from heaven and died for our sins and see God smiling down in approval of you!
