Some Christians complain that people living a life of sin are happier than those living under the love of God. This is why some people refuse to accept Christ; they think that accepting Christ means shedding off their old lives of fun and happiness, of lascivious living and of sinful behaviors. Some hear about Jesus and run away fearing that this person, Jesus, will take all their freedom of happiness away.
People may say that people without Christ are the ones enjoying life and getting the bigger share of happiness, while Christians are the ones living a mundane and dull existence. Is that really so? These beliefs are nothing more but lies of the devil who doesn’t want you to live in victory. Are you also aware that the people who don’t have Christ in their spirit are the one’s suffering from grave destructive addictions? Gambling addiction, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, sex addiction, even work addiction, you name it. People without Christ, whom people mistake as ‘happy’, are the ones going around thirsting for meaning, thirsting for something else out there, thirsting for a Saviour! They may seem ‘happy’, but deep inside their souls they are asking: “is this as good as it gets?” “Has life nothing left to offer me?” Solomon expressed the same sentiments during the peak of his wealth without Jesus Christ: “Meaningless! Meaningless! Utter meaningless! Everything is meaningless! (Ecclesiastes 1:2)
My friend, Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth, and The Life! (John 14:6) Without Him, you don’t know real happiness yet. I have seen countless people freed from their addictions because The Light of The World has entered their lives and they need not search for happiness anymore. Do not envy lost people searching for LIFE out there. The true LIFE is planted in you! All you have to do is to accept The One who died for you and listen to His words!
Addiction is nothing more than seeking LIFE in the wrong places. Thank God that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ! That because of Him, we need not search anymore! Glory to His name forever!
