Forbidden Fruit: The End Game is Self Righteousness

The forbidden fruit has been intriguing me since I was a kid (I’ve always wondered how it looks like). No one can fully explain what it is and why it is evil. No one actually called it evil, it is just not good for man (‘you shall surely die’ -Genesis 2:17)

In this case the forbidden fruit is ‘evil’ simply because God forbids it.  Whichever the interpretation, partaking of the forbidden fruit is a rebellious act which highlights man’s rejection of God and our acceptance of the serpent’s voice. As mentioned in the previous article (Why is The Forbidden Fruit Forbidden?), we are still constantly committing this sin today.

Why do we keep hearkening to this voice of the serpent? Why can’t we just accept our Maker’s word and plan for us? Why do we have to keep rejecting God and keep rebelling against Him?

I believe John the Beloved answered this: because God is Light and Light shines on the darkness (that’s our darkness) and shows us up. For this reason, man has aimed to get rid of God right from the very beginning. Let’s get rid of the Lawmaker so that we may in turn get rid of The Law that keeps showing up our wrongs and failures. I want to live my life the way I want it and no one’s going to tell me that it is wrong.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19

People and the world want authority and sovereignty over a life that they never made, a life that they neither earned nor deserved. People want righteousness but they want it through their own standards and rules. Basically, the world wants freedom; in today’s world as it has always been, this is the freedom from God.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

Proverbs 21:2

God is the only standard and this light makes everyone feel jittery. For if God imposes His standards, we will all surely fall short of it. If there is no God then we become gods ourselves, that we get to say what is good or evil, what is acceptable and what is not.

It’s ok to kill our babies if we don’t want them.

It’s ok to cut off my penis because I should have the right and the authority to choose my gender.

I can dissolve God’s covenant of marriage because I’ve found someone who will replace my wife.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

The need to get rid of God and His ways have never been so relevant and prominent as to our current days.

Man always wanted to have the authority to declare who is right and who is wrong, who is offensive and who are proper. There’s no better time to observe this trend than today’s ‘modern progressive’ culture.

This is the enemy’s false offer: that we shall become gods ourselves (Genesis 3). Now compare this to what the world portrays as Christian Fascism, getting rid of God becomes a really attractive offer. It’s all lies of course but people’s flesh and desires won’t see through that. Not when we can hide behind the wrong use of ‘science’ and even philosophies such as ‘moral relativism’.

Hence, we have been drunk in this fruit of self righteousness, we turn good to evil and evil to good. Everything is wrapped up because we got rid of God’s laws. Mark my words, the enemy will eventually find any way to legitimize pedophilia and other abominations.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes,
and prudent in their own sight!
Isaiah 5:20-21

The forbidden fruit is all about me me me and what I want; man wants all the glory but none of the responsibility. The fruit of life is all about Jesus Christ and what He thinks is best for us; with this fruit, all glory goes to Him and none to us. Somehow, mankind of prefers the former.

The end game of the forbidden fruit is the disconnection from Jesus Christ and to replace His righteousness with our authority to declare what is right (self righteousness /Self Godhood). This will seek to end the supremacy of God’s Word over our lives and lead us straight to chaos and anarchy.

It is time we accept that this is really happening right now. This is our modern reality. It really has gotten out of hand and will even be more so. This warfare has never been more prominent and imminent than ever.

It is time that we at least acknowledge this.  For awareness and acceptance is the beginning of change.  Let go of this forbidden fruit and this time, let us choose the fruit from The Tree of Life.
