Over-Blessings Because of Jesus

If one reads the Bible, one will easily observe how God over-blesses people.  By over-blessing, I mean that Christ will always exceed our expectations. You wouldn’t see a guy who’s been blessed by The Lord saying: “yea, I expected that.” Everyone blessed by The Lord will always have that jaw dropped look that says: “Wow!”

Christ blessed Peter with a net breaking, boat sinking load of fishes.  This over-blessing didn’t just make Peter say “wow!” It was an over-blessing that made Peter fall on his knees and worship The Lord (Luke 5).  Another instance of over-blessing was the boy who brought the 5 loaves and 2 fishes to Jesus; he in return, was blessed with 12 baskets full of leftover (John 6).

Why would God over-bless us this way? Do we deserve to even be blessed by Him?  I would start by sharing to you that it is never about us or our performance that make us worthy of God’s blessings (Romans 11:5-6).  Thank God for His grace that He blesses us according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus (which are infinite and eternal) and not because of our performance and good works (which always fail).  Thank God because of His Son, Jesus Christ, that we are no longer in the merit system of God (Romans 8).  Right now, God over-blesses us because of Who He is (He is a gracious God) and not about who we are (sinners who rejected God).

Read the Gospels and see what quality of a Man Jesus Christ is and you will know for certain that no garbage, no curse, no sickness, and no death, nothing ugly or inferior can come out from this Man.  Everywhere Jesus went people were blessed, people were healed, people gained wisdom, people became prosperous, people touched life itself, and most of all, the people were forgiven and saved.  It is of no wonder why John referred to Jesus as The Light of The World! (John 1)  So be ready for God’s blessings, because when Jesus over-blesses you, it will surpass your wildest imagination.

It is never about who we are, it is all about Who He Is.
