You Can’t Go Wrong with Prayer

People get annoyed when they share their problems to friends and these friends respond by saying: “I’ll pray for you”. On the surface, it may seem that these friends cannot offer a better solution to what is bothering them. On top of that, it seems that they cannot even offer the listening ear or any other words of comfort.

What these friends are doing is what every one of us needs at the time of distress. And that is a reminder that we need another reorientation of our minds from being too self focused into a mind geared towards God and His love.

Prayers and praying is a reminder that we are not alone in this battle.

What these prayer warrior friends are doing is telling you that there really is nothing anyone can do with your problem but God can. They go straight to the point and admit that like you, we are all powerless against all these circumstances which life has thrown at us. To be really honest, what can we really say? What can we really do and offer to the one suffering?

I know it’s a cliché: “God will fight for you. God loves you. All in God’s timing.” It’s been said again and again, but has any of these truly sunk in our consciousness as truth? (For if it has, then why are we still despair?)

Prayer, whether it is for ourselves or for others, is a reminder for everyone to lay down their arms and stop relying solely on themselves. Prayer is a follow up to the “let go and let God attitude” which is the total surrender to God. Through prayer, we declare the truth, that we are nothing and apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5).

In the face of real problems, I personally need and appreciate prayers. In the flesh, it sets my focus towards God and less on myself. In the spiritual realm, angels start moving as directed by The Lord to help us in our situation. From this revelation, I can say with confidence that if you see me in pain and distress, the best thing that you can do for me is to pray for me!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
1 Thessalonians 5:16-17

In all your ways acknowledge Him
Proverbs 3:6

Praying is so beneficial to the Christian life that even Jesus Christ Himself prayed prayed and prayed!

Are you currently in pain and distress? Pray to Jesus!
Are you celebrating something great that has occurred in your life? Pray to Jesus!
Are you simply bored and you’re looking for someone to talk to? Pray to Jesus!

Prayers prayers prayers! We need this!
